CAC Celebrates 10 Years

Guests were treated to a homemade cake commemmorating 10 years of service.

A decade of healing services in Greenville County was celebrated on April 22, 2009 by the Childrens Advocacy Center at GRCCAC. Founded in 1998, the former Upstate Children's Center was established to provide a child-friendly facility in which to provide assessment, intervention and treatment of child abuse.

Working in collaboration with Greenville Hospital System, local law enforcement, DSS, the Solicitor's office, Guardian Ad Litem, Mental Health America of Greenville and others, the CAC now facilitates more than 200 forensic interviews and a comparable number of forensic medical exams each year. More than 3,200 children have received services at the CAC since its inception.

The event was commemorated on April 22 by 30+ guests that included former staff, original founders, current board members, and professionals representing each of the community partners. Following a presentation, the group signed a new Commitment to Children, agreeing to continue the efforts to end child abuse in Greenville County.

The CAC is nationally accredited by the National Children's Alliance.
